Our people
We are committed to being a great employer to our people, a great landlord to our customers, and to delivering long-term social value to the communities where we operate.
Our long-term commitments
- Measure and deliver positive social value contribution to our customers and local communities
- Ensure Grainger's workforce is reflective of society.
Building strong, loyal relationships with our customers
Through a structured programme of gathering feedback, we ensure we are not just listening to our customers, but responding and acting accordingly. We hold regular focus groups with prospective residents to influence the design of our buildings, and gather feedback from existing customers to understand how our buildings impact on their lifestyle and wellbeing.
We conduct an annual customer survey and have developed a comprehensive action plan to respond to feedback, achieving ongoing improvements in customer satisfaction year-on-year. In our 2023 survey, 9 in 10 residents said they "really like" their Grainger home. We have also strengthened our complaints process so customers know their concerns will be dealt with fairly and promptly.
We have a small number of commercial tenants within our portfolio and offer green leases to minimise our joint impacts on the environment.
Promoting healthy lifestyles and wellbeing among customers and employees
We want our customers to feel part of a community and we host events for our residents and local community members - with over 424 events held in 2023. We employ local property managers who know the area and the local community around our assets. In new developments we offer a variety of communal amenity spaces such as co-working areas, gyms and roof terraces to encourage residents to interact and to spend time with their friends and families. On our regulated portfolio, we partner with Age UK London to understand how we can best support our older tenants and ensure their wellbeing.
Ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers and partners is a strategic business priority and our Live.Safe commitment ensures the highest standards of health and safety are embedded into our culture. We have an employee wellbeing action plan and a mental health champions network.
MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT ON LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND HELPING THEM THRIVE
Grainger recognises the value of supporting the communities where we operate, and providing our employees with the opportunity to give back. We undertake extensive community engagement and investment around our assets and development sites, partnering with local community organisations.
We work with two charity partners, LandAid and Age UK, aligned to our focus areas of tackling homelessness and supporting the wellbeing of our residents:
LandAid
LandAid works very closely with the UK property sector to eradicate youth homelessness. Grainger has been a Foundation Partner with LandAid for many years. Grainger supports LandAid through raising money towards specific projects that provide accommodation for young people.
