Our commitment
Grainger plc is committed to ensuring our workforce is reflective of society and our customer base, delivering a working environment where everyone can be themselves, and providing the best customer service.
National Equality Standard (NES)
In 2024, Grainger was accredited with the National Equality Standard (NES) benchmark (the UK’s leading benchmark for ED&I) in recognition of our dedication and commitment to ED&I and our ‘people first’ strategy, which is adopted across the business.
Our forward-looking approach reflects our core values while ensuring we continue to maintain our current standards. Through our best-in-class initiatives, shaped and co-created by our colleagues, we have created a workplace that not only values diversity but actively fosters equality and inclusion at all levels.
We also work in partnership with our industry to promote diversity in the real estate sector, through initiatives including Real Estate Balance and the British.

Our network
Our employee-led diversity network is open to everyone and provides a forum for raising awareness and promoting inclusion and engagement. It covers all aspects of diversity including disability, gender, ethnicity, social mobility and sexual orientation.
We are also working in partnership with our industry to promote diversity in the real estate sector, through initiatives including Real Estate Balance and the British Property Federation’s Diversity & Inclusion Champions Network.
Our initiatives
We have a majority female workforce. Our female leaders programme is developing our future Executive pipeline and we are recognised by the Hampton-Alexander Review as a leader in our sector.
We enjoy celebrating the diverse backgrounds of our employees and our residents in our workplaces and our buildings, through a calendar of cultural awareness days. We currently have 12.5% representation of employees from black and minority ethnic backgrounds and are committed to increasing this.
Opening up access to our profession to people from all backgrounds is a priority and we work with a number of schools to give young people insight into careers in property. Grainger offers apprenticeships and a graduate scheme and we work with our supply chain partners to provide employment and skills opportunities.
Supporting our employees
We are committed to developing and retaining our staff. Our Grainger Academy and other learning and developing opportunities are open to all employees. We operate an inclusive and transparent culture, encouraging staff to report any incidents of discrimination in alignment with our Harassment Policy and offer a confidential whistleblowing mechanism.
We take care to look after the wellbeing of our employees and provide a range of benefits to support staff including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme and mental health champions network.
